Housing Help
Housing Help is a free drop-in service for help with practical housing problems- locating housing, evictions, maintenance and repair, and illegal rents. Housing search help is offered to youth who have never looked for housing before. Programs exist for youth who are risk of losing shelter, or who have already lost it.

Long Term Housing has three low-rise buildings located in the east, west and central areas of Ottawa, that can accommodate up to 65 male and female youths. Each youth will have their own case manager to help with support and referral. To apply for Long-Term Housing, please call: 613-729-0577 ext. 247.
YMCA Second Stage Housing Program is a supportive transitional
housing program youth aged 16 to 21 who are no longer able to live at home
and need some assistance as they move towards independence. Applicants must
submit an application form by fax (613) 788-5095 or in person.

SHELTERS
YMCA-YWCA provides emergency shelter overflow for women,
families and youth. Persons requiring emergency housing must first be assessed
by City of Ottawa Community & Protective Services staff to determine
eligibility and authorize placement at the Y. For eligibility and placement
please contact a City of Ottawa crisis worker at (613) 560-6000 during office
hours or (613) 722-9495 after hours or on weekends.

Housing- Individuals with Mental Health Issues
Ottawa Salus Corporation provides different supports for individuals living with mental health issues. Salus owns three group homes, a transitional Rehabilitation Residence and several apartment buildings for men and women 16 years and up.

Project Upstream offers permanent, affordable housing and/ or support options for adults challenges by mental illness. Residents live independently in the community but receive support and counselling from a mental health professional. Also offers a family focus case management program.
